Trainer Spotlight: Jane and Robby Halterman

Hello all! After a brief break over the summer, we are back!

And what better way to kick things off again than getting to know the lovely owners and heart of Movement Revolution? Today we’ll learn about how Jane and Robby got into gym ownership to begin with, what inspires them individually and together, and how their clients and the events they partake in color their world and that of those around them!

Jane’s Answers

1.  What does gym ownership mean to you and what inspired this career path? For me, gym ownership means having the privilege of helping people be their best selves.  It's so rewarding seeing people put their health first.  Robby inspired this career path for me.  He has such a passion for fitness, and I think our fitness family feels that.  I truly enjoy learning from Robby and our other trainers every day!

2. What is the most fulfilling part about having a community-centered gym? I would say the most fulfilling part is definitely the clients.  It's so great not only feeling like we're truly part of a fitness family, but also watching people meet and exceed their goals!  The success stories we hear are what makes it all so rewarding.

3.  Do you have a fitness related goal that you would most like to accomplish? My fitness related goals are pretty simple.  I want to be consistent with my daily workouts (which is why our fitness family is so amazing).  I'd love to be able to get faster with my running, but mostly just want to have the ability to run injury free!

4. What is your favorite post training meal? My favorite post workout meal is probably a smoothie and some coffee!  I typically workout in the morning, so that's usually my go-to.  When I have time though, I'm always up for a good protein waffle or some eggs and toast.  Nothing too fancy.

5. What’s a particularly memorable aspect of your fitness journey and what type of training brings you happiness? I guess a memorable aspect of my fitness journey would have to be becoming a runner.  I have never been a runner in my life, and about 10 years ago, I decided to start running!  I was inspired by my amazing husband, Robby, who was starting to get into triathlons at the time.  Growing up I hated running, and was usually the kid who walked the mile in P.E. class.  Once I learned to gradually increase my distance, (couch to 5k is where it's at) I learned to actually enjoy it.  The best thing about running, though, is the local running community!  I really enjoy going to local events and meeting other runners.  Being around others who help hold me accountable and motivate me is what keeps me wanting to be the best version of myself!

Robby’s Answers

1. What does gym ownership mean to you and what inspired this career path?

Initially I wanted to train kids and young athletes so that’s what really pushed me into attempting to start a personal training business. But since starting the business, I think what has changed is meeting people who really understand why I’ve started this. What I have found is that helping people reach their goals, whether it be helping someone reach a goal of finishing a triathlon or someone who just wants to be able to load he and his wife’s luggage into the overhead compartment on the plane, this is why I love

doing what I do! I love seeing people come into class and really push themselves and seeing other people really feed of each other! I’d have to say over the last 3 years my inspiration has changed to really helping everyone to just becoming healthier!

2. What is the most fulfilling part about having a community-centered gym?

The most fulfilling part is just seeing everyone so happy to come in and literally just about everyone knows everyone! What it does is it just builds an amazing group of friends that will always hold each other accountable to coming in and having “FUN!!” They are continually messaging each other and posting things on social media!

3. Do you have a fitness related goal that you would most like to accomplish?

I’ve had a few that I’ve made and quite a few that I have yet to accomplish (some I may not ever make!) But one that has been on my radar lately is to finish a 50K trail run! I am hoping to do it before the end of this year! We’ll see what happens!

4. What is your favorite post training meal? Oh wow! Uhm…... let’s see, I really train just so I can really enjoy some specific treats!! I can tell you what I really like is to have is chocolate milk after every run! But really what I train for is a nice cinnamon roll! Oh boy there is also the pre-race meals that I really enjoy! I guess you could say I enjoy just about everything that I get to eat either before or after a workout!! ;P

5. What’s a particularly memorable aspect of your fitness journey and what type of training brings you happiness? I remember training for my first IRONMAN! It was scary, tough and the most amazing experience! I met some of the best people in the world and made 2 amazing friends. We still talk and get to train together and motivate each other to keep moving! I am really enjoying trail running and love getting out and enjoying the local trails!

Eat too little, never.” Although food is very individual and calorie needs will vary depending on the person, let it be known that food is our friend.
